concept
Alkis is an encounter of two worlds, contemporary movement and soprano voice that converge in one space. The erudite voice of the soprano, aloof from the popular singing by its tessitura and vibrato, is defined within the lyrical style. The unusual and peculiar movement of the dancer which completely transforms the body in order to reveal its different facets and reliefs is framed within the contemporary dance. These two forms of expression intermingle, contrast and penetrate each other giving life to the piece.
Alkis is based on the investigation of the movement focused on the conceptual topic: who you were, you can be, you are and will be. The choreographic idea I was working with consists in exploring different ways identities can be embodied and how the body and its movement could reveal them. The work evolved by exploring corporal guidelines and images which reflected the main attributes the human being contains: different shades of the animal nature, socially constructed human nature, gender identity and its infinite roles. The piece discloses them bit by bit having the body as a starting point.
Alkis is a corporal reflection about the coplexity and versatility of the essence of a human being.

synopsis
Alkis is a wordless story about a woman who longs for finding herself. "My image is all who I am? And if not, then who am I? ". Driven by the need to unravel her fragile and intangible essence, she embarks on the search for her identity. She puts on thousands of garments of different sizes and colours, sloughs from one identity to another trying to comprehend, feel and touch her existence.
